Indigenous Academic Tutoring & Mentorship Program

Tour group

The IATM Program connects local Indigenous youth with current Indigenous students from Western University. Our tutors will work with you one-on-one to support you in subjects like Math, Science, History, English, and more! However, this program isn’t all about schoolwork – it’s about building your confidence and growing as a person! The are no costs associated with this program.

All IATM tutoring and mentoring sessions are held on-site at participating schools, providing support in a familiar environment for students.

IATM’s Goal

  • Offer bi-weekly tutoring/mentoring drop-in sessions for Indigenous youth, grades 9-12.
  • Encourage students to complete assignments, enhance their understanding of course content, and develop organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Foster one-on-one or small group mentoring relationships, helping Indigenous high school students improve academic skills and build confidence in a safe and culturally respectful environment

How to become involved

Grad coaches, educators or community organizations must coordinate directly with the Community Enhancement Coordinator, Marisa. Marisa will work with the students and tutor’s availability to coordinate visits to schools.
