Faculty of Education
Western's Faculty of Education is committing to Aboriginal Education and to providing graduate students the opportunities to expand their knowledge on Indigenous scholarship and research.
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)
Students who identify as Indigenous in accordance to the Constitution Act, 1982, and can provide proof of ancestry can also apply to be considered under the Aboriginal Access Program for the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and to be given special consideration in the application process.
Western Education's MPEd | Field of Leadership in Indigenous Education
Master of Professional Education in the Field of Leadership in Indigenous Education is a course-based graduate program leading to an MPEd degree. Students proceed through the program together as a cohort and complete seven designated courses and a capstone project over six terms (two years). Student choice is encouraged through a process that allows individuals and groups to tailor course assignments, case studies and projects to meet their learning and professional goals.
Master of Physical Therapy
The School of Physical Therapy is dedicated to enhancing functional mobility for the attainment of health and wellness of First Nation, Inuit, and Métis People in Canada. To encourage more Indigenous individuals to consider a career in physical therapy, a pathway was created to increase enrollment into the Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) Program. School of Occupational Therapy
Each year Western's program for the Master of Science in Occupation Therapy (MScOT) reserves two spaces for students who identify as Indigenous with Canadian citizenship, have completed a four-year undergraduate degree, and who have a sub-GPA of 3.4 or higher.
Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry
Each year, the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry reserves seats for students who identify as Indigenous. In the Medicine (MD) program there are five seats and in the Dentistry Program (DDS) there are two seats.
