Since 2006, Western University’s Indigenous Student Centre has offered innovative outreach programs to thousands of Indigenous youth (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) from across Southwestern Ontario and Canada. The Indigenous Student Centre diligently fosters relationships with Indigenous communities to create pathways for Indigenous youth to access post-secondary education. Indigenous Awareness Week (IAW) seeks to celebrate Western's Indigenous presence, nurture relationships, and facilitate collaborations between indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. Visit the IAW page to learn more!
Corn Soup Lunches
September through April, the Indigenous Student Centre hosts a monthly Corn Soup Lunch. Join us from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to enjoy Oneida style corn soup, fry bread and a variety of other snacks. A vegan soup option is also available.

The Indigenous Student Centre (ISC) is excited to offer our new program, "Auntie's Table." Auntie's Tables will offer students opportunities to come together virtually each month and socialize while participating in a different cultural activity.
The staff of the Indigenous Student Centre with in the Office of Indigenous Initiatives at Western University want to acknowledge the generous sharing of this beautiful and perfect name for the program, of Aunties Table. In this we want share the origin of this name from the Shkagamik-kwe Health Centre in Sudbury, Ontario, that there are difficult conversations that need to take place and often our Aunties kitchen tables provide that safe space, that place of love, kindness, food, creativity, laughter and tears. It is with our hearts that we say miigwetch to Shkagamik-kwe and the good work they facilitate.
Three Sisters Soup Cook-Along
The Indigenous Student Centre partnered with OCAD University to deliver this Dish with One Spoon Lunch held virtually on Zoom on November 18, 2020. The lunch featured a cook-along on how to make Three Sisters Soup. If you missed it not to worry! Watch and follow along at home to learn from Teresa Nicholas as she teaches our students how to make Three Sisters Soup and share some important teachings along the way.
Western’s Indigenous Student Graduation Ceremony takes place each year in early April. During the ceremony we honour and celebrate our Indigenous student graduates’ accomplishments. Graduates are gifted with a Western Indigenous Student Centre stole. Visit our graduation ceremony page to learn more.
