Boozhoo, Biisawaan-Ginii ndizhinikaaz, Anishnaabe kwe niin daaw, mzhiki ndodem. Hello! My name is Kylie and I am Ojibwe/Potawatomi/Métis/Cree from the Kettle and Stony Point First Nation in Southwestern, Ontario. I graduated from Western University with a Major in English Language and Literature and a Minor in First Nations Studies. My time here at Western helped me realize that my strengths reside in working with Indigenous peoples, particularly at the community level. I spent the majority of my time after graduation working with my own First Nation community which taught me the value of learning from my own people and the importance of providing positive and healthy programming for our youth. I have always been passionate about encouraging Indigenous people to continue their educational journey into post-secondary as I have experienced first-hand the benefit that it has had on my life as an Indigenous woman. The opportunities that Western’s Indigenous Student Centre provide falls in line with a key value that I hold dear to my heart: I want to see Indigenous peoples succeed. To any prospective or new students, we are here to help you achieve your goals. Miigwech!
